Testimonials

"In a 30+ year career of working with youth artists, I’ve never encountered anyone with Kyle’s skill set, ambitious drive, and passionate commitment to creative leadership. Kyle finds fulfillment, challenge, and meaning in organizational growth. He is the only student in all my years of youth arts leadership work I've entrusted with such a high degree of budgeting, strategic planning, artistic oversight, and leadership of both peers and adults. Kyle is truly one-of-a-kind, and every artistic leader in Seattle who has encountered him (and most have) agrees." - Shana Bestock, Executive Director (Penguin Productions) and Artistic Associate (Union Arts Center)

"Penguin Productions is more than just a youth-led theatre company—under Kyle’s leadership, it has become a powerful catalyst for inclusion, innovation, and youth empowerment in Seattle’s arts ecosystem. He approaches his work with a rare blend of artistic excellence, logistical skill, and a deep belief in the power of storytelling to foster social change. Whether facilitating a conversation between teens and professionals at a Rep event or curating a platform for emerging youth voices through Penguin’s initiatives, Kyle consistently demonstrates maturity beyond his years. What sets Kyle apart is not just his vision, but the tangible results of that vision. I have seen firsthand how students who previously felt marginalized in traditional theatre spaces found belonging and confidence through Penguin’s programming. Kyle cultivates these spaces with intention, ensuring that all voices are heard—not just on stage, but in leadership and behind-the-scenes roles as well. He is not only an artist; he is a builder of communities and a mentor to peers. I cannot wait to see what he creates next—and who he empowers along the way." - Deanna Martinez, Education & Community Programs Director (Seattle Rep)

"Kyle is a remarkable young professional with exceptional people skills and an instinctive grasp of both artistry and administration. His ability to synthesize creative vision with strategic thinking sets him apart not just from his peers, but from professionals twice his age. Through his leadership at Penguin Productions, Kyle curated a space that didn’t previously exist in the Seattle theatre community, where teens and professional artists could engage with each other meaningfully, equitably, and creatively. He has a keen sense for developing work that speaks to broad and diverse audiences, and he consistently fosters connections between emerging artists and experienced mentors in ways that support and uplift both." - Anna Klein, Education Manager (Union Arts Center)

"As the Artistic Director of Seattle’s Shakespeare in the Park Company, I know firsthand the work involved in running a company and keeping it true to its mission and intent. Kyle came into Penguin at a time of uncertainty and he went all in. His determination and tireless dedication have grown the organization and ensured that it will continue as he moves on. He has an uncanny ability to recognize what needs to be done and unwavering commitment to make it happen, all while maintaining his studies and participation at school and in his community. He is a mentor and inspiration to his peers, and he is humble in that support.  I have observed his intellect, pragmatism and vision unclouded by ego. To find these qualities working harmoniously is a rare gift. Kyle inspires me and, more importantly, makes me want to be better as a theatre leader and a person." - Erin Day, Artistic Director (GreenStage)
